I had the great opportunity to go through the pregnancy and birth of my youngest child, my daughter Avenne with a good friend of mine. During our pregnancies we shared many hardships and ended up being treated by the same specialists, and ended up both requiring the need of the local NICU for both of our babies as well. There has been a little difference our lives however even though so very much was similar for us on the roads to get our beautiful little girls here. My sweet friend baby girl, Ella, has Down Syndrome and other medical conditions that have lead their sweet little family down a path where they have needed a lot of follow up medical care and will need it for the rest of their beautiful little ones life.
I have 6 children, and of those all but 2 have need the NICU, and 1 has needed a lot of further help with medical conditions that she has in her life as well. As my children have been born each time that my babies have been in the NICU it has lead me to learn a great deal about the children that are hospitalized there with us as well, and each time I am amazed at the amount of stress that each of these families go through, yet handle so beautifully! Even the medical issues of my 1 child were a great deal for us to learn about, and sometimes deal with, but I would never for a second trade what path we have gone down because it has given me my darling little girl! I have noticed that in the majority of these cases the families take each situation no matter how stressful, or even at the lose of a little one with the most grace that I have ever seen!

This time however I have learned from yet another point of view that I had not yet dealt with in all the many years I have been walking thru friends and my families own issues, and that is living so far away from the adequate medical care, that it has fully opened my eyes to the wonderful gift that the Ronald McDonald House is, and how much of a relief their services can be to a family that has to travel from so far away. I got to thinking about all the other factors that attribute to this great stress during an already difficult situation, and eating out ALL THE TIME, and gas for driving back and forth can add up to large amounts very very quickly! So I am starting a charity in honor of both my friend and I's children's names! Ella N Avenne will be a resource to help out in those little things that really need to be lifted from a family at their greatest time of need, as well as try to be an out side source for finding support, information, prayers, and love!
